School Report Card

State and federal laws require public schools to release report cards to the public each year. This year, the report card has been updated to reflect changes in reporting directed by the SC Education Oversight Committee. Schools will not be rated for state accountability purposes until Fall 2018 when the state will transition to a single accountability system.

Lamar Elementary School is helping all students develop the world class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing opportunities for students to develop the necessary skills at an early age to begin their successful journey towards college and career readiness.  We offer many student selected and teacher led activities that address the world class skills.

Creativity and innovation is met through many projects created in our art classes and musical productions.  Students learn to think critically and solve problems through many inquiry based science projects and solving weekly math challenges based on real life scenarios.  Students learn the importance of collaboration and teamwork through participation in cooperative learning groups, classroom learning stations, reading buddies, and our physical fitness program.  Book studies, study skills, and project based learning activities teach our children how to learn and find the resources they need in the learning process.  Our curriculum addresses the world class skills through student participation in problem-based learning, performance tasks, technology-enhanced instruction, Student Success Team, and Response to Intervention in all content areas.

The life and career characteristics are addressed daily in our instruction and through our guidance program.  We recognize students demonstrating the Terrific Kids characteristics of being respectful, achieving, and responsible.  Parents are involved in various programs outside of our classrooms that focus on the development of the whole child, including Fall Festival, American Education Week activities, Book Fair, Clemson/Carolina Food Drive, Accelerated Reader Program, Family Math and Reading Nights, All-Star Sports Night, Fancy Nancy Night and Family Fun Day.  Our community helps with our Back Pack Buddies, Giving Tree and our Clothes Closet.

Our professional development supports our vision of excellence and learning for all through high expectations for success, differentiated instruction, South Carolina Read 2 Succeed Initiative, innovative technology, cultural differences, and community outreach.  We appreciate the continued support and involvement from Title I, our parents, business partners, and community to realize this vision.
